Ready to design?
So you built your app with all your key information like bio, pictures, your complete restaurant menu, social media links, and an event calendar and now you are ready to make it look like a million bucks. Below is a list of 5 secrets tips we think could help make a difference between your app going unnoticed and knocking it out of the park!
Tip #1: Only use one, maybe two colors at the most
In this day and age sometimes fewer is better and with picking app colors for your iPhone & Android apps this idea definitely applies. We have found apps designed with only one or two colors usually better looking, easier on the eyes, and are easier to navigate. We have seen exceptions to this rule, so please don’t freak out if you want to try a color palette using three or even four colors. Experiment with different colors and see what works best for you. Flatter colors have also become the newest trend over the past few years. For a long while gradients ruled the landscape when it came to designing any kind of application but in the past few years designers and developers have moved away from gradients in favor of flatter solid colors.
Tip #2: Design a great app icon
You don’t have to be a Photoshop expert to make a great app icon for your iPhone and Android app. When you are designing your icon make sure the icon is a representation of what your app is focused around. If you are a bakery, try to make your icon a simple cake or roller pin. Try not to make it too fancy, icons are small and there is not a lot of real estate. It would also be a good idea to stay away from using words in the icon. When the icon is shrunk down and viewed on a phone, the words you include in the icon are usually too small to be read by users. There are plenty of places on the internet to get simple icon graphics which can give you a good starting point as the basic foundation to your icon.
Tip #3: Use different fonts
Using beautiful fonts is a great way to spice up your app. By default EasierApp uses the helvetica font, a beautiful and easy to read font. But sometimes our customers want to make their app stand out a little more from the rest. This is why EasierApp has made it easy to pick and choose from hundreds of different fonts to use in your HTML5, iPhone, & Android app. Not only can our customers change their font, but they can also use multiple fonts at the same time. This allows customers to use the Aguafina Script font for the title bar, and also use the Nova Mono font for their social media links like Facebook and Twitter.
Tip #4: Use a background image
A background image is a great way to add a little more personally to your app. Whether your app is person or business related, a great background image can give your current audience and new users an inside look into who you are. If at first you do not have the perfect photo to use for a background image, you can pick from a selection of background images already in the EasierApp online control panel. Once you find your perfect photo, we make it very easy to update your background image at any time.
Tip #5: Include frequently used buttons in the header or footer
App users could benefit greatly by having quick access to key buttons in the header or footer area of your app. EasierApp makes it easy to add a row of tab buttons, or a row of standard buttons in the header and footer part of an app. Popular apps like Facebook and Twitter place buttons in their app’s headers and footers to help their users navigate and you can do the same. We have seen huge success when apps include buttons like click-to-call, restaurant menu, join our list, and photo gallery in the header or footer of an app. Having your key buttons in the header or footer will easily give your users access to call about your services, make a reservation, or find your location quickly via Google Maps.
